The safe way to recycle your old batteries
Unlike regular garbage, batteries cannot be thrown into general or recycling bins. Most batteries contain harmful substances such as mercury, cadmium and lead, which is why it’s important to properly dispose of them — keeping yourself and the environment safe. This includes NBN batteries.
If your old battery is undamaged, you can drop it off at a battery recycling point. It’s recommended that old batteries are wrapped in tape before being dropped off. At NBN Battery Store, we make this process even easier for you. When you replace an NBN battery with us, we’ll send you a bag for your old NBN battery. All you need to do is send it to us and we’ll ensure it’s disposed of safely.

How do I replace an NBN battery?
If the battery for your NBN box is running low, a red light will appear next to the ‘Replace Battery’ marker on the nbn™ box and it will beep. Here are 10 easy steps to replace an NBN battery:
1. Unplug your NBN box power from the electrical outlet
2. Open the front cover to see the battery, then disconnect the red positive (+) plug
3. Push the tabs above and below the battery outwards to remove the battery
4. Disconnect the black negative (-) plug to completely disconnect the old NBN battery
5. Connect the black negative (-) plug to the new NBN replacement battery
6. Push the tabs outwards and insert the new battery
7. Connect the red positive (+) plug to the new battery
8. Close the NBN box cover and plug the power supply back into the electrical outlet
9. Turn the power back on and wait up to 10 minutes
10. Correctly recycle the old NBN battery
Who pays for an NBN battery replacement?
If your NBN battery is still under warranty, your NBN provider should provide you with a replacement or reimburse you for the cost of a new one. However, if it has run out of power and is no longer under warranty, it is up to the owner to replace the NBN battery. If you’re renting, your landlord may cover this cost as the NBN connection box is a fixture of the property.
